Nazareth to Bethlehem — about ninety miles

How Far to Bethlehem?

A live drive-through journey through the Christmas story.

December 11–13, 2026 6:00–9:00 PM Lithia Springs, Georgia Free Admission

The road

The road to Bethlehem

You never leave your car.

The road through the church property becomes the road to Bethlehem. You drive it slowly, in the dark, past a sequence of eleven live scenes — large painted scenery, actors in period costume, live animals, lantern light and firelight against a cold December night.

It begins with an angel and a young woman in Nazareth. It ends at a manger. Between those two points is the whole distance the story travels, and you travel it in your own car.

There are no seats and no tickets. Admission is free.

The story

One road, one story

The scenes follow the Christmas story in order — the road ahead gets brighter as you go. We won't spoil it.

The tradition

More than three decades on the road

Lithia Springs Methodist Church has presented How Far to Bethlehem? since the early 1990s. Each December, volunteers rebuild the road: actors, scene crews, craftspeople, animal handlers, cooks, and traffic teams bringing the Christmas story to life again — offered to the community free of charge.

The road crew

Help build the road to Bethlehem

The road takes a substantial cast and crew — on stage, behind the sets, with the animals, in the kitchen, and out in the parking lot. If you can act, build, paint, sew, cook, or hold a flashlight, there is a place for you.
